Day 33- Just another day in the Big City

Today was just one of those days, wasn't bad, and wasn't great! You could probably call this my first normal day in NYC. Can you believe I have been here for 33 days and I am just now having a normal day? I can't complain about the day though, because I would have to say we had some of the best weather we have had in my opinion since I have gotten here. But that is besides the point, today's blog isn't going to be that long, because to be honest, not too much happened, but it was a still a great day and a nice relaxing Thursday.

I woke up and headed to work, got some breakfast at Tim Hortons and headed in a little early. Once I got into work I started on some projects that I had been working on, and also just went over some things for the Dreamer Talk Box that I am hosting next Sunday! After I got done I was given some small tasks throughout the entire day, so it definitely kept my day busy, I did some sorting of categories that we had to do for the site. So that was fun getting the actors and actresses separated into different categories, so that was a blast. We finished the day with a calender meeting with our co-workers from LA. I still am amazed sometimes that we can do that so easily. But I guess that is technology for ya. Once work was over I headed back to the dorm and just relaxed.

I wish I could tell you I did more once I got back, but honestly I didn't, I skyped with my parents and talked to them about a position that Dream Careers offers, it is called a Campus Marketing Internship, and I don't know if I have been so passionate about wanting to do something other than my career choice. I really feel like I could be the best CMI that Dream Careers has ever had, I love what they stand for and just this whole program is such an amazing experience. I hope things work out with it and I get this opportunity to spread the word about Dream Careers at Liberty and around the Lynchburg area. People down there need to understand that they can have the best summer of their lives just like I am experiencing at this very moment.

Since I have been here, I have made so many great relationships with people I didn't even know before I got here. The friendships you make when you are around the same people day after day are just amazing. I wouldn't want it any other way, Dream Careers has made my dreams come true time and time again while I have been here this summer, and things are going to get better and better. There is a long weekend coming up because of the 4th of July, so my posts may be coming later this weekend, but don't worry, I will keep you updated on my life! And don't forget to send me your address's so I can send you a card, and I would love to hear from you, you can email me anytime at or send me a letter at...

Day 32- Wednesday is a good day!

Wow I can't believe I have been here for over a month, and let me tell you something, it has been one of the best months of my life. Meeting new people getting to experience new things that I never thought I would ever do in my life. Things are going really great in my life at the moment, there have been times that have been better than others, but whenever there is a moment I think things are horrible, I get lifted up by something else. I really think that is the secret to New York City, there is always something around to get you in a good mood. You are about to find out why that Wednesday June 29, 2011 was a day that is going to be remembered for a while.

I got to work this morning, and did the normal thing, got in and ate my bagel with cream cheese and looked up a video we could put in the video player for tomorrow. I chose the clip from the show Expedition Impossible on ABC it is a new show and it seems like it was a good choice. Once I finished that task I was given a little research assignment by Mickey, and that was just to see how much traffic is going to certain videos, whether it is videos we do at the office, or it is videos other companies and networks send to us. I did that for about a good little bit, getting things organized and figuring out what is the "hot" video content on our site. That was a lot of fun, once I got done that task, I didn't have much to do for the rest of the day, so I thought up of some ideas that maybe could make the site more unique, I have been working on a few ideas that other sites use, that I really believe could make a real success. I can't wait to tell Mickey what those ideas are and I really think they are going to be very beneficial. After that I headed back to the dorm and went to the gym to get a little bike ride in. It was definitely a great workout that was a nice way to end a good day at work and also get myself ready for the night.

We had a seminar or what Dream Careers call "Industry Nights" and tonight was music industry night. Which featured a few artist that are getting themselves established within their own music and the type of industry they want to be in. The reason my day turned out to be so great in the end, is because one of the artists that were there, his name is Rico, and he is a hip-hop artist and loves to perform. He is an underground talent, but he has great music and his lyrics are very powerful and strong. Rico has officially joined the line-up for The Dreamer Talk Box as our musical performance at the end of the show! This is one of the biggest things that I was worried about not being able to get on the show especially less than 2 weeks away from air. I talked to him about my dream and my vision for the show and he was all for it. That was definitely a big weight off my shoulders now that I have a musical performance for the show on July 10th.

Today may not sound like the most exciting day to some of you reading this, but one of the biggest purposes of Dream Careers and this summer is really pursuing my dreams and what I want to do for the rest of my life. I know its not really what I want, but what God is going to do and use me for, but I really feel like he has led me here this summer to meet people within Dream Careers that share that same passion for achieving your dreams and will help you in whatever way possible. I think God has shown me so much in the first month that I have been here, and he is going to show me more and more every single day! Finding a musical guest to perform on my talk show is just me getting one step closer to my dream and achieving it. I love that I have so many friends and family that support me every step of the way, the friends I have made here in NYC and my friends and family that I have back at home and back at school, is just amazing. I couldn't do it without anyone of them, and I am really blessed to have all of them in my life! Don't take your friends for granted, sometimes it only takes a thank you or I love you, to someone real close to really make them know that you appreciate them!

That is what I am leaving you with tonight, no matter what kind of a day you are having, don't forget the people that have helped you get to that point and have been with you every step of the way. A simple thank you can go a LONG way!

Day 31- Dreams are coming true...

Throughout the day I did a lot of thinking, thinking about my dreams and my goals and how I was going to reach those within my lifetime. There are somethings that happen right away and others that don't happen for a while. One of my goals/dreams came true today, and this is sort of how the day went...

I woke up this morning asking myself what I was going to do throughout the day, I didn't have work so I had some time this morning to go out and explore the city for a little while. I headed down to Wall St. and walked around there for a couple hours and just took everything in. As I have been saying, I love going to places and just walking around because here in New York City you never know what you are going to see, or who you may run in to. I headed down there, and really tried to soak it all in, just the Wall St. experience and that this is where a lot of the money and the financial business of the United is done. I walked by the Stock Exchange Building and The Trump Building and it was cool walking around and just seeing what went on down there during the morning. After I got finished walking around I headed back to the dorm took a shower and then things really started to get good.

As I told you before I was given the opportunity to be apart of the audience for the David Letterman Show, with special guest Tom Hanks. After I got ready a group of about 10 dreamers headed to the Ed Sullivan Theater to pick up our tickets and just get ready for one of the best experiences of our lives (well mine anyway). After we got our tickets we had a little time to kill so we just walked around for a little bit, and then got back in line for the show. Once we got in line we waited for a little while longer and they gave us the guidelines of what we could do and couldn't do inside the theater. After we got done with that whole talk they let us in and we entered the famous Ed Sullivan Theater. When I first walked in I said to myself, "This is amazing!" It was a very surreal experience to actually be on the set of a talk show and getting to actually watch it being filmed. From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out I just had so many ideas and was getting so excited for The Dreamer Talk Box that I am hosting in less than 2 weeks. Just watching Dave interact with the crowd and seeing Tom Hanks and Paul Shaffer just interact with each other, it really got me excited for what my big dream is, and that is to be a TV personality. I never would have thought I would get the opportunity to sit in on a real legitimate talk show this summer, and it really happened.

After we left the show we headed back to the dorm, and all that was going through my head was I want to do this Talk Show of mine right now! I was so pumped and that energy definitely carried and got more and more throughout the night. We had a seminar tonight that included former dreamers that have gotten jobs and are on the right track. It was one of the best seminars/ evening sessions we have had in my opinion! They took questions and and just shared their journey through there entire internship process and meeting people and what it took for them to get where they are at. It was one of the sweetest experiences that I have been apart of and just learning from them and the example they have set for me, that they were in my shoes once, which was awesome to hear!

Everyone has dreams and goals and things they want to do throughout their lifetime. But a lot of us don't really take hold of those dreams and really put those into action. We have been focusing so much this summer on writing down your goals and dreams and just keeping yourself accountable. I challenged everyone a few days ago to really write those dreams and goals down to really make those dreams come true. There isn't a better feeling than going out and accomplishing one of those goals you had, and you can check it off the list! I am so pumped about the rest of this summer and just to see what plans God is going to have for me, for my Big Picture in the end. He has put people that love and care about me and about my dreams this summer and he is going to continue to show me what he wants for me!

Day 30- Monday= Back to work Brilliance

Today was the first day back to work after one of the busiest and longest weekends of the summer, I definitely did a lot this weekend as you can tell by my other posts and I wasn't sure how today was going to go work wise. It seemed like everyone in the office was lagging and was just tired from the weekend. There is nothing like a busy Monday at work though, I kept busy and that moved things along a little bit.

I got up this morning and headed to work, I got some good sleep last night and I was honestly ready for a great day. I hopped on the subway and headed to Grand Central and then hit up Tim Hortons for an Ice Carmel Latte and a bagel. It was a very good bagel this morning, so I was in a good mood, good sleep and a good bagel definitely is the best way to start off the day! Once I arrived at work, it felt like just everything from the weekend was catching up to me, I was tired and just for some reason wasn't on my A game. I got in and looked up some clips and then started working and finishing the Monte Carlo clips that is going on the site in the next few days. I did all the work for it, and Bryce just tweaked some things at the end, which was nice and finished it up for me. It was my first all the way through process of shooting the interviews and editing them and putting the whole thing together. We had one interview today with Mahcad Brooks who is starring in the new USA Network show Necessary Roughness. It seems like a pretty good show. After his interview we started to edit that and put that together and then we all headed home.

When I got back to the dorm I headed to Palladium to get some dinner and it was definitely not the right day to go, the High School group of "dreamers" showed up yesterday so they were all in the dining hall and it was just a mess. So I got something real quick and headed back to get a bagel at Dunkin Donuts so that helped me get a little good food inside of me. Then I headed back to the room and did some brainstorming for the talk show in less than 2 weeks. I have a lot of ideas but I can't really start working on the big stuff until next week when the events I will talk about are actually relevant. After that we had a meeting about the goal writing exercises a group of us are trying to get together for networking purposes after we leave here. It was a very good meeting, just getting to see where this is going to go. After the meeting, I headed out for a little walk around the Union Square area, it wasn't that long, but it was nice to listen to my "Get Pumped" playlist and think about some ideas for the show and how I can make this stand out over everything.

Today was a great day of relaxing and just enjoying a nice Monday in NYC. Not too much happened at work, but like I said enough happened to keep me busy, which is the most important thing. I don't have work tomorrow, because I will be attending the David Letterman show during the afternoon. I am really excited to see how things really work on a talk show stage and how he interacts with the people in the audience and his guests. I always try to leave you with a challenge for the next day, and today I want to leave you with this, take some time out of your busy schedule to really sit back and enjoy the surroundings. Whether you live in the most exciting city in America, or a little country town, you can always learn something from your surroundings. Remember you blaze the trails to your desires, you step over the line into new territory! Let that be the way you live your life every single day!

Day 29- Lunch done with Brilliance

Today wrapped up one amazing week, I would have to say the past 9 or 10 days have been the best I have had since I have been here in NYC. Things just keep getting better and better, I am not saying that there aren't some down times but they don't last long enough to really make a difference. Starting with last Friday and just going through this entire week, meeting new people, making amazing friends, and making more and more great opportunities come alive. I love New York because nothing is the same twice. You can go through your day and do the exact same thing, and it not be the same. Go down different streets you didn't even know existed and end up somewhere amazing.

Today started out great I woke up and worked on some laundry that I love doing. Then had my quiet time which was really nice, I love getting those times to myself during the week that I can just relax and sit down and really reflect over the past week and the time that I have been here. It has truly been an amazing week, as you have seen throughout my blog posts, I have met so many great people and have gotten to meet them and really get to see what their dreams are and how they are going to pursue them. I have realized more and more that I learn something from everyone that I come in contact with, whether it is just for a little bit, or if it is someone that you go out to eat with, and have a real nice conversation with, you can learn something from everyone.

After I got done doing laundry and my time of reflection I headed up to 44th street to meet with The Ruba's!!! Liz Ruba is a really good friend of mine from school and her family came up and stopped in NYC for the day on their way up to Cape Cod. So I went and met with them and had a great lunch with them at a new place I had never tried before called TSQ, it was a small restaurant but the food was fantastic. It was great seeing them and just capped off an amazing week and also an amazing weekend. I love when I see people from school or back home, it was awesome a few weeks ago to see James and his brother and just talk to them for a little while during my lunch break. I really enjoyed the afternoon just talking to Liz and her parents about the summer, and living in the city. It was also great to hear how Liz's summer and her experience at Kids Across America was for her first time. This is a camp I worked at 2 summers ago and was a real life changing experience, so it was great to hear how she was and her adventures in good ol' Golden, MO. After I got done lunch with them and said goodbye before they went to go see Mary Poppins on Broadway, I headed back to the dorm for the rest of the afternoon. Not a lot happened after I got back, I took a nap and just relaxed watched some episodes of The Bob Newhart Show and ALF. And then shot some footage for The Dream Talk Box which I am really excited about.

Things in life that you have no control over are always put there for a reason. No matter if you think someone is out to get you or you just have the worst luck in the world, everything happens for a reason. I really believe God has put me here in NYC this summer to experience something that I have never experienced before. He has really shown me how to be the best person I can be and still keep my faith through it all. He has put amazing people in my life to share my ideas with and to share my goals and dreams for whatever I want to do in the future. I am reminded everyday that no matter what life throws at you, you have to be ready to get up to the plate and hit a home run. You may not get a second chance to do something, take the risk, if you feel like doing something, go out and do it. Only you can stop yourself from doing what you love or something that you want to get done. Remember to follow your dreams, don't wait until your time comes, make today be your time, and go out and take it!

Day 28, Brilliance at the zoo

Today wasn't your typical Saturday in the NYC, but at the exact same time, it could have been your typical Saturday night. I did a lot of site seeing, the past 24 hours from last night going and walking around to just going all the way to the Bronx and hitting up one of the best zoo's in America! Lets just say, today may not be the longest blog, but don't let that fool you, it was certainly a busy and exciting day!

I woke up this morning and actually was able to sleep in a little bit, so I got up around nine, which is really good. The plan for the day was to hit up the Bronx Zoo with Shannon, since a lot of other people were in D.C. this weekend, we decided to make something out of our Saturday afternoon and headed uptown to the World famous Bronx Zoo. I am a big fan of zoo's but I think I am an even bigger fan of Giraffes, I have never seen one before, but I have always wanted to and I really think they are some of the coolest animals that are on the Earth, I mean come on, they have a huge neck and just look sweet. Anyway we go to the zoo and end up spending a good 3-4 hours walking around and seeing all the animals, here is a picture of a few of the best shots I got...
As you can see I got some pretty awesome shots of a Giraffe and a pretty awesome one of a Tiger as well. The zoo was definitely a great time. After we got done we headed back and just relaxed until the comedy club later that night.

After we chilled for a bit, We headed to Gotham Comedy club to listen to some good ol' New York Comedians, there were actually a couple good ones, but there were also some not so good ones as well. I guess that is just your normal comedy club experience in NYC. Some great and some not so great. It was a great experience to say the least. Once the show was over we walked back to the dorm where I am now writing this a little late, but its still here I know.

Today was a fun and relaxing day, going to one of the most famous zoo's in America which I can actually say I have seen a Giraffe. It was fun to hang out with some great people that I am meeting every single day. I have noticed and I was telling some friends this tonight, I don't have a certain group I hang out with, and I love that. Just getting to know everyone and where they are from and what they do at their internship, that is the type of person I am. Nothing can change the way I am, and nothing should be able to change the way you are. No matter what people think about or what you do, just do it to the fullest of your ability! Really go after your goals and dreams and show everyone, you have something special! Goodnight!

Day 27, Friday=Brilliance

Alright, today was a day like no other, another day where I had a lot of firsts, starting from work, and going just before I started writing this blog post. I think today some of the most fun I have had just walking around the city. You really never know what you are going to find when you do that, or who you may see. But lets get this party rolling, and I will tell you why Friday=Brilliance.

So it all started when I woke up this morning, I actually for the first time woke up to my alarm because I think I was just too tired from last night, that I was able to sleep. I woke up and headed to work, got there around 8:45ish and just captured and transferred the footage that I got at the Red Carpet last night. It took me a little while to figure out actually how to get it transferred, but once I figured that part out and got it working, it was smooth sailing from there. I copied the footage and put it into Final Cut where I actually put the entire thing together. I still have a few things I need to put into it, but I cut the interview down and put music behind it and everything that goes into putting package for the Red Carpet last night. That was the first time I had put music and actually done like the entire clip, that hopefully will go out on the site when it premieres. So be looking for that.

After work, I headed back to the dorms and took a little nap just to get ready for whatever I was going to be doing tonight. I ended up going to have dinner at Palladium with Shannon and then we took off for a little adventure of our own. We were trying to figure out what we were going to do tonight, and I was like, how about we just walk around and find something, I mean this is New York City, there has to be something going on at 9 o'clock. So we started walking and just enjoying the evening, we found a bunch of places we didn't know were so close, we found the Shake Shack, Madison Square Park, etc. Then we actually walked all the way up to 42nd Street right across from where I work, and I work right across the street from The New York Public Library, but I had no clue that this was the same Library they shot "The Day After Tomorrow" in. First I find out as I am walking home, that I am a block from the Empire State Building, and tonight I find out I work right across the street from a place they shot a big movie at. The day just keeps getting better and better as we go along.

We start walking back, and this is when the real excitement starts to happen. We are walking down 5th Avenue and we get to right near the Empire State Building, and I look across the street, and I am like, "Shannon, they are filming something over there." I am huge into TV and things like that, so I was pretty stoked when I saw a bunch of cameras and like a legit scene being shot for something. We get closer and find out it is from the USA Network show "White Collar" so once we find that out, Shannon starts getting really excited, because this is like her favorite show (other than Pretty Little Liars) so we go to the side where they are filming and get pretty close, well they end and start wrapping up, and Shannon really wants to meet one of the main characters that was being filmed, Tim DeKay, who plays Special Agent Peter Burke on the show was the one they were filming. So as they are getting ready to leave, we go up to him and meet him and Shannon gets a picture with him. It was her first celebrity "meet and greet". So once that was done, she called some people and couldn't stop talking about how excited she was all the way back to the dorm. I was pretty excited as well, I mean its not everyday you get to meet a main character from a TV show, and actually watch that TV show being filmed. So that definitely ended the day perfectly!

Today was an action packed day, with editing interviews, to taking a stroll around NYC with a good friend, I don't think there was a down point in today. I learned a lot of new things about the city, and where I work, and around where I work. I challenge everyone to really look around the next time you go out, and be observant of what is around you. You could end up meeting someone famous, or you could be standing somewhere that was in a movie. Until you look up to the left and to the right, you never what could be around you. The World is a crazy place, and that is why Friday=Brilliance!

Day 26, Lights, Camera, Brilliance

Alright so today was amazing, I got to do a lot of firsts and it may have been the longest, best, busiest day of work I have had and may ever have this summer. But it was definitely worth every second of the experience and what happened. I never thought that today would ever come, I mean everyone dreams of going to a Red Carpet Movie premiere and seeing big name celebrities but how many times do you really have the chance to actually film on the Red Carpet...???

I am going to jump right into it, I woke up this morning and headed to work, where I was in charge of the studio for the day. We had one interview with Oliver Platt (The Big C, Bronx Bombers, West Wing) so I actually ran the the cameras and did all the usual studio work that the Freelancer does. It was my first time, running the studio by myself, and I would honestly have to say it went really well! I am very excited to see how the footage comes out when I edit the interview tomorrow. After the interview was completed I edited it down just a little bit, and started making sure I knew what was going on for the Red Carpet tonight. I wasn't too sure how I was going to do, but in the end it was a blast. At around 5ish right after I got off work, I headed to the Red Carpet for media check-in that was at 5:45. We didn't get set up and actually in until around 6:15, and it took a little while to get the camera on the tripod but it got set up and you could say it was smooth sailing from there. Well sort of, The first celebrity that showed up was Andie MacDowell (Groundhog Day) so we got an interview with her, and I also snapped a quick picture of her as well...

She was with her daughters for the premiere. The next person that we got an interview with was Stephen Baldwin, was there with his two daughters also and they were there to support Selena...

It definitely didn't stop there when coming to celebrities, there were a few more, one of the co-stars of the film Katie Cassidy (Gossip Girl, Taken) and we got a couple questions with her and I got a little snapshot of her as well...
She is the one on the left, she was a very good interview and we were able to get some good shots of her. After she took some interviews we all were waiting for the star of the film, Selena Gomez, and here she is taking some questions before heading into the premiere!
She was the last of the stars for the movie that arrived. So you are probably wondering, so did you see Justin Bieber? Well lets just say yes I did. My first Red Carpet I spotted the Biebs on it. He didn't take any questions but I did snap a little picture of him while he was rushed into the Theater.
He was there about an hour before Selena got there, but I would say he was the biggest star to rock the Red Carpet tonight. Once we got done seeing all the celebs and got all packed up we headed back to the office to drop off the equipment and headed home.

Wow an 11 hour workday was definitely worth it. I got a lot of great experience and got to do some amazing things that I didn't think I would ever get to go do this summer. I have met some amazing people, and I really think I showed some of my co-workers that I love doing what I am doing, I love working for TV Guide and the experience is like non other. It was my first Big Red Carpet and I promise everyone it will not be my last! Today was unbelievable, and dreams are coming true, one by one!

Day 25, Brilliance and Frodo

I always have something interesting to say about the day, whether I meet someone famous or I get to do something fun at work or in the city, regardless of what it is, I always like to tell my "fans" at home and in the program what is going on in the day! Today isn't going to be any different, but today I found out a lot about others in the program at Dream Careers. I will tell you about that later but I loved getting to meet new people and get to see what everyone's dreams and goals were.

I started out the day by waking up and grabbing a coffee at Tim Hortons on the way to work, I really feel like this just gets my day started on the right path and gives me the energy to do the rest of the jobs I have to do. Today was a very big day for myself and for TV Guide, I have met a bunch of big name celebrities and people that come into the studio and talk about their new show coming up. Today we had a legitimate A list celebrity come into the studio to promote his new show on FX, "Wilfred". His name if you didn't figure it out already by the title of my blog is Elijah Wood. I definitely was excited to talk to him, because he is a household name and it was fun to get to talk to him for a little bit and things of that nature. We got ready and shot his interview and he is a really nice guy to just talk to and see what he is up to and things like that. After that I edited the interview and broke it down to the interview that will be on the website tomorrow for the premiere. So make sure you check out tomorrow and watch it. After the interview and after I got done editing it, Bryce showed me how to use the camera that they use for red carpets. Tomorrow, I am going to be officially paparazzi at a Red Carpet Movie Premiere of "Monte Carlo". It is going to be a surreal experience and will definitely be a great blog post for tomorrow (Make sure you check back).

Once work was over I headed to the Dream Careers office to talk to Cody and James about The Dreamer Talk Box that is going on July 10th. I also got the news that I am officially going to the David Letterman show next Tuesday, with Tom Hanks as the guest! Let's just say I am really excited about that opportunity to get to do that and really get to see how the Talk Show really works and what really goes on. That is going to be another surreal experience that I am going to have and will be a great Blog post next Tuesday. I fixed some eggs for dinner which were very delicious, and headed down to the JK&A that is put on every Wednesday by a few of the Dream Careers staff. Tonight was led by Kelsi and Andrew and they talked about visioning your goals and really expressing them and telling others about them. It really was a huge impact tonight, because I have always visioned my goals and I have written them down, but I usually only tell a little group of people what they are or what I am going to do to achieve them. I got to open up with a bunch of people that I had never met before and it was great. I love the idea of expressing to others what your goals are that way they can keep you accountable.

Today was another brilliant day in the City of New York. I love how every single day I learn something new, and I get one more opportunity to really reach and pursue my dreams. The next week is going to be amazing just talking to different people, and experiencing a Red Carpet Premiere and everything that goes along with it. As you can tell I changed up my blog format a little bit, it marks a new beginning for not only just me, but anyone out there that wants to step up to the plate and really go for their goals. I challenge you over the next 24 hours to really take hold of your dreams and goals, tell someone you trust about them, and let the journey begin.

Day 24, Brilliance at work

So today was one of the best days of work that I have had since working at TV Guide. You will find out why here in just a bit, but first I want to just remind everyone that is reading this what my goal for this blog is. I just want to say thank you again to everyone that is reading this consistently, it means a lot when I get feedback from you or people in the program I am in and it really makes it so much worth it to write another post the next day! I have learned so much over the past 3.5 weeks and this is just my way of letting you know what I am up to while I am interning and spending my summer in NYC! It really is all of you that read this that keeps me coming back and posting new stories day after day. So thank you!

Alrighty, today like I said up top, was one of the best days at work that I have had probably since I have been here, and yes it tops the first 2 days when I met the American Idol Top 3 finalists. The crazy thing is today was a slow day as well, I think it was the fact that I got some pretty sweet news about what I am going to be doing the next couple days that just made it so good. I did something different before I got to work, which may have helped a bit, I went to Tim Hortons and got an Iced Carmel Latte, and it was amazing, definitely the start of the day that I had been needing. I got to work and did my daily thing, watched a show or two from the past week, and then watched some clips. Well tomorrow we have someone pretty big coming into the studio, I have already told some people who it is (hint: Lord of the Rings) but tomorrow will be a good blog to write about that. But then I got the word that I am going to be going to my first Red Carpet Premiere on Thursday night! The film is "Monte Carlo" starring Selena Gomez, and that just made my day. I got all my work done and since it was a nice day in the city, Mickey let me go home a little early so I came back to the room and started working on material for the talk show. This material thing is going to be an ongoing event until the actual show which is on July 10th!

After I finished with that I headed to dinner and just relaxed while eating. I talked to Cody a little more about the show and the different segments we are thinking about doing. I honestly am so pumped about this talk show, it is going to be perfect! Once I got done talking to Cody for a bit, I finished eating with Shannon and Alexandra before they/we went and watched Pretty Little Liars. (I want to make something clear, I say watching this show is sort of homework for work and it is that one show that a bunch of people in the office like. I have to watch it in order to be able to have a conversation with my co-workers, which is really important especially when you are an intern). Anyway about 10 minutes into the show I went and met with Kelsi about the idea we are calling "Momentum" where we have people talk and discuss their goals and dreams and actually write them down. So we discussed that for a little bit, and then I got back in time for the final 20 minutes of the show, which I guess I was a little confused coming back that late. But I was confused from the beginning so nothing much really changed. Once we got done watching that I headed back up to my room and starting writing this.

Today was a big step for me, and I believe it will be a huge help in my career. Yeah, I don't want to be a cameraman for the rest of my life, but the fact that I get to go experience a Red Carpet Premiere is going to be a memory that I will never forget. Things come in all shapes and sizes, some big and some small. You have to take every opportunity that is given to you and give it everything you have! No matter what IT is, take it, do it to the best of your ability and I promise someone will notice. When you take that step, You will be the one that stands out in the crowd, You will be the one people want to be like, and You will be the one whose dreams come true!

Day 23, Chop't Brilliance

Hey everyone, you are probably wondering why the past few days the word brilliant has been in the title of my blog, well there is a certain thing about the word brilliant that means shining with light or sparkling. If there is one thing about myself and while I am here, I want to be that Brilliant person that people notice, and that people can spot within a crowd, someone who has something different. I want to be someone that when I walk in the door people are like, "Dang! He's got something!" One thing I have learned in the entertainment world is it's not about how good you are, but it's how you separate yourself from everyone else in the field.

Today started out great, I woke up and was ready to take on the day, things were going great, but I would be lying if I told you it stayed that way. Today was a slower day at work, and I am one of those people that loves to be doing something at all times, so I was just little bummed today when I didn't have too much to do at the office. I love where I work, and I love what I do and the people I work with, I just think its one of those things that it's tough for me when I wish there was something I could be doing at work, but at the same time there is nothing. I feel like there are days that I do have more work and of course they go so much faster than others. I get my work done and it's great, but sometimes I feel that I want to do that one extra thing that separates me from everyone else. Mickey let me leave at around 4 o'clock and I went back to the dorm and just relaxed and thought about what I could do. I started looking over the blueprint and the script for the Dream Talk Box, my talk show that I am putting on for Dream Careers on July 10th and really started working on what I am going to say and ask everyone that I am interviewing. I worked on that for an hour and a half and then I headed out for dinner.

So this is the reference to the other part of the title of the Blog, I went out and had dinner with Kelsi, and she took me to this place named Chop't! I have to say this may be the best salad place that I have ever been to in my life (even better than the Salad Bar place I went to in Tampa) it reminded me of the Cold Stone of Salads! You pick the lettuce, the toppings, the dressing, and they chop it up for you and toss it for you. Definitely an amazing and healthy place for dinner, it definitely filled me up and considering I didn't really eat too much during the day it was the perfect place to go. Kelsi and I just sat and talked about the day and an idea that she is coming up with and that I am helping out with about dreamers writing out there goals and dreams. So we did that and just enjoyed a nice dinner at an amazing salad place!

After we got done eating we went to meet with some people to discus the idea she had about writing out goals and things like that, and then we headed to the seminar. Charlie Caudill was the speaker for the evening he has worked with CNN and it was really interesting to see what he did and some of the things that he had done in order to get noticed. I feel like some of things I have done with Around Liberty in 90 Seconds are just the start of something huge, I love being off the wall and unique, and if that means I have to go jump in a lake in the middle of the winter then I am going to do it.

This all brings me back to the whole Brilliance talk and why I want to be brilliant, when someone says something is "brilliant" it usually is very good thing which means you stood out amongst everyone else. I love the thought of me being the next Don Cherry with his wacky suits, or the next David Letterman with his great lines and Top Tens! I learn from the people that have already made it in this business. No matter who you are or how hard you want to try, there are hundreds of other people that probably want to do the exact same thing you are doing and are working just as hard to get it. You MUST set yourself apart from everyone else, whether it is writing a blog, doing a news story and just being unique, or hosting your own talk show, you have to do something that will set you apart from everyone else that wants the exact same thing you do. I leave you with this, step out of your comfort zone and do something only you can bring to the table, be unique and be yourself, that is what will separate you from everyone else!

Dream ON!!!!

Day 22, another Brilliant day

Hey everyone, today was a great day just enjoying the perfect weather, and hanging out with some more great people like I did yesterday. I started out the day by doing a little quiet time by myself and just reflected over the past few weeks that I have been here, It is crazy to think that 3 weeks ago today my Dad dropped me off and I started this incredible journey! By the way, Happy Fathers day to my Dad and also to all the dads out there! That definitely was a great way to start out the day just seeing how much I have really grown over the past few weeks.

As you may know yesterday I went on an adventure to Coney Island and then headed back on the Brooklyn Bridge. Well today I headed to the Brooklyn Bridge and back, we went as a dream Careers group and walked across the bridge and it was a great experience, once we got done done walking across the bridge, we had some of the world famous Grimaldi's pizza, which I must admit very good! I love when tradition is in something and I get to try something that is on all the food networks and things you must do in the city. Once we got finished with the pizza some of us hit up the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, I had a scoop of chocolate chocolate chunk ice cream and then we walked back over across the bridge, which was very nice to see the Manhattan side of the walk just like yesterday.

Once we got back I headed up to my room to relax and just go over some pictures of my time I have been here in NYC so those are up on my Facebook right now which I know a lot of people are excited about. I went up to my room and decided to get some laundry done before a seminar Elina was putting on at 8 in the commons. She talked about Personal Branding and really getting yourself out there about what you need and what you want to do. I loved this seminar because it really made me think of how I am putting myself out there for others to know. She brought up a point of how do you know or do you know what your dream really is, I took that to heart and I love doing what I do, I love talking to people, I am a friendly and outgoing person who enjoys getting to know people and I feel like my passion has taken over and being a talk show host would be an amazing profession for me, yes I am going to have to work my way up from the bottom, but the opportunities are endless, I am taking my dream and making it a reality with the Talk show on the 10th of July, which I am so excited about. Everyone is really encouraging me and I can't wait to see where this ends up and how this is going to affect the next 5 years of my life!

After the seminar Kelsi and I headed over to Max Brenner for a little chocolate, we looked over the menu and didn't know exactly what we were going to get, we had it down to a few things but decided to get the European Fondue, which was sort of a sampler platter of anything you can think of when it comes to fondue (marshmallows, brownies, cookies, strawberries and bananas) which we shared and it was amazing, we had 3 dips we could dip the fondue in and they were Milk Chocolate, Toffee, and White Chocolate. It was the best desert I think I have ever had in my life. That may be exaggerating just a little bit, but it is pretty close! We got to talk about stuff and just enjoy a nice evening at a really nice place. So it was definitely a great way to end the day as well.

Today was a great day of reflection for me and I was able to do that by hanging out with people that I talked to a lot. I love the fact that everyone here, or at least the people that I have met so far have been really open and they love expressing themselves and telling others what their dreams and goals are. It takes a lot to talk to someone about those things, but I really believe that when you do tell someone, they can help you stay accountable and everything and it is a really great community of people here to do it with. I challenge you to take sometime in your day everyday to really reflect on the past and evaluate the goals you have in life and if you haven't gotten to experience them, find someone you can talk to about them, so they can keep you accountable.

Day 21- Just a Brilliant Day in the CITY!!!

I know I have said this a million times in my previous blog posts, but today was hands down the best day in the city since I have been here. It is three weeks into the program and I don't know if any other day, will be able to top the day I experienced today...

The day started out amazing, I woke up put on some pump up music and got ready for my first segment taping for The Dreamer Talk Box, and it just so happened to be at the Intensati class in the middle of Central Park! It was one of the best ways to start off the day, just got my blood flowing and definitely had a great workout with a bunch of friends from the program. I was a little nervous going into the workout because I didn't know exactly what to expect actually doing it, but I mean it made me sore but at the exact same time it was such a great way to start the day and get an amazing segment footage for the Talk Box. Once that was over it was around 11:45, and the group headed back to the dorm, and I was ready for the 2nd part of my day! Coney Island!

I got back and took a shower and got cleaned up for a little Coney Island action. I headed over there with some friends from the program; Kelsi, Clarissa, John, and Amelia and we hit the Q train for about a 45-60 minute train ride to Coney Island, our original thought was we were going to head down there and watch this annual Mermaid Parade, lets just say that didn't really fit into the schedule of events once we got there. We all walked around and finally just decided to check out the beach, it was amazing weather about 26 degrees, so around 80 in American temperature so we were like, hey why not, so we headed to the beach and just relaxed there for an hour or so. But on the way to the beach we stopped and got some Mango on a stick, I wish I had a picture of it, but it was so good Kelsi, Clarissa and I ate ours before we could get a good picture. We did take a picture on the beach though with the 5 of us that were there...That is the five of us on the beach at Coney Island, it was great time to just relax and talk a bit and just enjoy the weather and the great company. Once we got done at the beach we decided to head back inland to grab something to eat, we headed back and headed towards around the Brooklyn Bridge area and we were going to have some pizza around there and some ice cream and then walk across the bridge! We ended up eating at this really great Pizza place right around the corner from Grimaldi's world famous pizza, that line was out the door and down the street. After we got done eating there we found an ice cream store and got some really good ice cream. We then headed to the entrance of the Brooklyn Bridge walkway, and we passed a sign that had an arrow pointing to a public park (read further to understand the symbolism) and we headed across the Bridge. It had to be one of the most exciting and amazing experiences that I have ever been apart of, here is a picture of us on the bridge...

It was a first for me, and just walking from Brooklyn to Manhattan and seeing the city that way was amazing. Like I said before, today was just so great because I got to see a lot of the City you don't see every single day. I mean we walked through Brooklyn, Coney Island and then Kelsi and I walked through Manhattan. I did a lot of walking and working out today, so I think the pizza and ice cream equaled all out after the day was done. Once we got done the Brooklyn a few of them headed back on the train and Kelsi and I kept walking back to the dorm.

You don't realize how much of New York there is until you actually walk it, you notice so many different things when you walk around the city and just experience the entire city in its entirety, You take the Subway often or you take a cab to and from places but I really think it is important to just take a walk either by yourself or with someone and just enjoy the weather and just love and embrace the city.

So Kelsi and I started heading back to the dorms and we just talked about a lot of things, park signs, goals, dreams and just a lot of fun stuff. We walked around and it took us about an hour or so to get back to the dorms but it was definitely a great walk. Earlier on our journey we had walked through I would say about 3 or 4 parks, and we came up to a sign (which I mentioned earlier) that had an arrow pointed to a park, but it didn't just say Park this way, it said PUBLIC Park this way... we thought to ourselves why would they be pointing you in the direction of a park that wasn't public? I am going to throw this out there, but wouldn't you think that if the park wasn't Public they wouldn't have a sign pointing to where it is located? I don't know what you think about that, but if you have any opinions please let me know. We finally made it back to the dorms after a great evening and a great day in the city.

Today was amazing, it was the perfect combination, great city, great friends, and just a lot to do. That is why I said at the beginning of this blog that this was the best day in the city so far. It isn't the fact that just one good thing happened that made it great, it was the combination of all the great things about today, from the way it started to the moment it ended. I wish the day wouldn't have ended I definitely could have walked another hour or so... But I have 5 more weeks here in the city, and it is amazing at what is going to happen in the coming weeks! I experienced a lot of New York today, and it was BRILLIANT!!!!

Dream ON!

Day 20

Today was one of those days that I just enjoyed the day, wasn't too busy at work, but at the same time was a good time to relax. But that doesn't mean that my day wasn't great, everyday I am here is just another reason why I don't and won't want to leave this place in 5 weeks.

I woke up this morning, and did my usual ride the subway to work, once I got to work I did my normal check out the clips of different shows. Since we got all the interviews edited yesterday there wasn't too much for me to do at work today. It was definitely a nice day to just enjoy the day in the office and see if anyone else had things they needed me to do, when they didn't I was like, what do I do now? I checked in with my manager and he gave me my assignment for the day. Since there is an interview coming in next week, I was able to watch 3 of the episodes of the new show Wilfred with Elijah Wood and collect B-Roll. It is definitely one interesting show, its a comedy, but sort of a dark type of comedy. Anyway I watched those and collected the b-roll that we are going to use for the interviews next week. So that was fun to watch a show that hasn't even been on TV yet. Makes me feel like I have the inside scoop and that I see it before almost anyone else. Once work was over Mickey sent me home around 4 and that ended the day.

After work I headed back to the dorm, and just relaxed for a little bit, I got an email from Cody about the "Dreamer Talk Box" and it was the blueprint or the layout of how the show is going to go on the 10th of July! I honestly was so surprised and so happy I started tearing up a little bit. It is amazing how much the staff at Dream Careers really care about people who want to pursue their dreams, and it got me so excited about what this talk show is going to mean to me and everyone else helping out with it. I have been working on questions and ideas for my monologue as well as figuring out what different segments I am going to do and that are actually going to make the cut!

So words can't even describe how excited I am about tomorrow's INTENSATI workout in Central Park!!! There are a group of us going and honestly, it is one of the only things I have been thinking about all week long. Nothing can prepare me for what I am going to embark on tomorrow in the Park!!! This is my moment, and the best thing is, I am getting filmed while doing the workout! Tomorrow's session may have its own blog post, and I definitely may have two blog posts tomorrow, a morning recap and then the rest of the day. That is how excited I am about this IntenSati workout! I have been listening to my pump up playlist all day! It's time to show what I can do!

Dream ON!!!!

Day 19

Today, was another fantastic day! These past couple days and this week has just been amazing to see what other people in this program really want, and to know that I am not alone in this whole dreamer setting. It is a huge blessing that I have met so many great people that I can take this journey with, and it makes being here so much better!

Today like I said before was amazing, I woke up like I normally do and headed to work, I hopped on the subway just to realize that I had forgotten my access card for work, luckily I had time to hop on another subway back downtown and grab it, and I was still on time for work. I arrived at work, and got the studio all set up for the interview we had today. We interviewed Gabriel Busso (The Big C) who has a role in the Showtime series, The Big C, he is also in the new movie Super 8, so it was sweet getting to meet him and he was a pretty sweet person to talk to for a little bit. After we got done interviewing him, Bryce and I edited around 4 or 5 pieces for the website. I got to edit 2 of the pieces that will be going on the website soon this summer, so it was the first time I had gotten to really show what I had learned since being there, and also what I could do as an intern with Final Cut. I edited two of the pieces and they turned out really well. I actually edited one yesterday also, I was so pumped that I am getting these opportunities more and more to show everyone what I can do.

After work was finished I headed back to the dorm and then headed to dinner. Dinner was really good I had some bbq sandwiches and a cookie... The food here isn't too bad actually, there are some days that are better than others, but I feel like that is true where ever you are. Once dinner was over I headed to a seminar with Tim Duffy and it was amazing, we were told to find a partner and all that and did some activities about just how you are going to change in the form of how can you be a leader in your scho0l, or in your internship. It got me thinking and I talked to my partner Kelsi about it and it was sweet just telling someone else the goals that I have and what I was going to do to make my dreams come true. We both definitely learned something from each other tonight and I feel like Tim's talk was amazing telling us what steps it took to become a leader and what it actually meant to be a leader.

It is crazy to think how this is already day 19 here in NYC. So much has happened to me already, I have 5 more weeks here and I don't want to leave. I meet people everyday that have the same story and the same desire I have about reaching my goals and my dreams. It is so encouraging to know that I am not alone in this journey, I can't wait to see what happens in my life as well as the lives of my friends and fellow dreamers! We came to NYC to step out of our comfort zone and seize every moment of every day, and that is what I am doing. I challenge whoever is reading this Blog to don't just settle with what you think is okay, seize every moment every opportunity that you have, because you never know where it is going to lead in the end.

Day 18- 3 interviews and counting

********I just want to first start off by saying this, anything that is used or said in this blog is allowed to be leaked out to the public... The information on this blog is not private, but a public show of my life and what I am doing here in NYC. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT be afraid to tell others about this blog for viewing purposes. Thank you...********

Now that I got that off my chest, I can continue with the blog like I do every single day. Today the morning started out just like any other morning, woke up got my bagel w/ cream cheese at Dunkin Donuts downstairs and then headed to work. I have gotten more and more used to the timing of the Subway and how long it will take to get from the dorm to work, so I can relax a little in the morning and not rush so much and get all sweaty getting to work. Once I got to work, I got right on my daily assignment that I do for my manager which is look up the different clips for future episodes off the media sites. Once I got done with that, Bryce the freelancer that comes in to work on the interviews came in and we had our first interview this morning around 11 o'clock. The interview was with Rocco Dispirito (Rocco's Dinner Party) he is debuting a new season of the show listed above. He was a nice guy and definitely a good person to do an interview with. Once we were finished editing some other interviews we had our second interview come in for today, Kara Dioguardi (American Idol) she has a new show called Platinum Hit which is a songwriting competition. It looks to be a pretty great show and it is different which is what I like about it. After her interview we went for our lunch break, and then we came back and edited some more interviews that we had to interview, and got ready for our last interview of the day, it was with Shailene Woodley (Secret Life...) who is the star role in Secret Life and also has a new movie coming out with George Clooney. Once that interview was over I headed over to the Dream Careers office...

When I arrived at the Office, we started talking about different ideas for the show, it looks now that the show will be premiering on July 10th, so that will give us a lot more time to get things ready and equipment set up. I am so excited for this to be happening, it is a big dream of mine to be a talk show host or a TV personality and even if we only have a couple episodes of this show, it will be the most amazing experience of my life. I am going to give a little preview of the guests we will be having on the first show: Kelsi Kimball, Nick Mueller, and Nick Meletio. You are definitely not going to want to miss it!

Tonight we did an activity that focused a lot of communication in the business and goals we were trying to reach. I am so happy that we have a staff here at Dream Careers that cares so much about us as dreamers that they will do whatever it takes to make our dreams come true. It has been an amazing experience the past 18 days and its not even close to being over. I love the City, I love my friends I have made here, and I love the people that are making this summer one that I will never forget! It's time to make the most of what I want to do! DREAM ON!!!

Day 17- Another day...

Sorry this is so late, but a buddy of mine, Nick, had to use the computer for a project of his. Anyway, today was definitely a great day, started out at work and gradually got more exciting, and then it kind of settled back down after I got done eating dinner.

I woke up, hit up Dunkin Donuts for a bagel before work and then hit the 4 train to Grand Central! I didn't pick up a paper this morning, but that's because I wanted to get into work, and see what was going on. So once I got to work I finished up on the project my manager had me working on yesterday and I think I did a pretty good job. With the resources that I had, and not really knowing exactly what I was going to be doing it turned out pretty good. Once I finished that, I started working on another project, lets call this one the TV Guide Project, this includes finding the different shows that are on our site and writing down the ID numbers and all of that so we can get it all organized. That is pretty much what I worked on for the remainder of the time at work, it wasn't as much work today, but time went by so much faster because I was constantly working on the same thing the whole time which kept me busy. Okay so I don't know if I have told you this before, but the one thing I love about TV Guide, one of the many things, is that we have a 25 cent snack and soda machine... A picture of that to prove that we really have one, will be up tomorrow, so just be on the look out for that.

Once work was over with at around 5:15 I headed back to the dorm and went to grab some dinner. Dinner wasn't that good tonight, I had a little pasta with Alfredo sauce and it just didn't do well with the stomach muscles. Once I got done having dinner, I came back to my room for a little bit, and then headed down to the TV room to watch Pretty Little Liars with Alexandra and Shannon. Let me just point this out right now, I don't watch the show on a regular basis but, I watch clips and previews of it at work almost everyday so I had to see what it was all about. I am still very confused about what went on, but maybe one day I will understand it. After that I headed back up to the room and have been just relaxing ever since.

Today was a great day, and tomorrow should be even better, Thank you all again for checking out this blog and really encouraging me as I go throughout my journey! My dreams are HUGE, but they are coming true one by one. I have a final planning meeting with the Dream Careers staff about my talk show that is starting up on Sunday! I can't wait to get this kicked off, will be updating everyone as the summer continues!!!

Day 16- Yankee Game #2

Today was such a great day, it started good and ended pretty good as well. There wasn't too much of a stop in the action today. I enjoyed every bit of it though, and everyone that was involved made it that much better.

My day started just like any other day I woke up and got my breakfast at DD downstairs before hitting the subway. I hopped on the 4 train that took me directly to Grand Central Station, from there I exited out towards 42nd Street and picked up a copy of the Free Epic Times! It's one of the many newspapers people are handing out in the morning on the way to work. Once I got to work, I sat down and ate my breakfast, and watched a show that is coming out in a couple weeks, I wasn't very impressed with it, but I guess you are going to have to decide what you think about it once you watch it. After I got done doing that and looking up some clips until Mickey got into work, I went and asked him if there was anything I could do. He gave me a project that he is giving the finalist in the search for a new video producer at TV Guide, and that is to make a video that promos three of the new shows that are coming out next fall, when I got that assignment I pretty much worked on that for the remainder of the time I had at work. But during my lunch break I met up with a buddy of mine from Liberty, Mike Johansen, we went to a little diner in Time Square and I had one of the best grilled cheese's of my life!

After I done with work and headed back to the dorm, I hurried up and got ready for the Yankees game. They were playing the Cleveland Indians and it was definitely a fun game to go to. They ended up losing 1-0 but it was a very good pitching outing by A.J. Burnett giving up only one run in 7.2 innings while striking out 8. So he definitely had a great night pitching. Another note is that Derek Jeter got his 2,994th hit tonight, so he is only 6 hits away from 3,000, but the bad news is he left the game early with a sore calf. Hopefully things shape up for him so that he can get those hits sooner than later. Once the game was over we headed back to the dorm, which is where I leave you tonight.

Tomorrow is going to be another great day at work, and I can't wait to see how the rest of the week goes. Shout out to my Alma Mater Great Bridge baseball team for winning the state title a couple days ago, and being ranked the 6th best team in the Country! It makes me proud, also a shout out to a couple buddies of mine who won NCAA Championships this past weekend, Mike Morrison (Decathlon) and Sam Chelanga (5,000 meter run). What a way for both of you to finish out your college careers!

Goodnight everyone!

Day 15

Hey everyone! Today was my 3rd Sunday in The Big Apple, and I must admit to everyone, I wasn't sure how this blog was going to work, I didn't know if I was going to be able to keep it up for even this long. I still have about six weeks left, but I really love and enjoy doing this for everyone to read.

So today was a normal Sunday morning, I woke up and walked around for little bit, I am checking out the Brooklyn Tabernacle next week so I am pretty excited about that. But I woke up and enjoyed a nice day in the city. I walked around today probably more than I have all summer in one day. I got to sleep in today and then went down to the TV room to have a little quiet time, and work on some material for my talk show that has its first episode a week from tonight. So that is going to be a lot of fun. Once I got done doing some of that, Nick and I went to Subway and had a little 5 dollar foot long action, and then we headed off to the Chelsea Market, and The High Line.

We headed to the Market and Highline, and you are going to have to do a little research on what exactly the Highline is, because I think it is just an old train track that they made into a long park/garden type of thing. And the Chelsea Market used to be the home of the Nabisco company, so it is where the Oreo cookie was invented. So there is a little fun fact for the day if you didn't know that about the Market. Once we got done walking that it was getting around 5ish and I was ready to head back. So I didn't take the Subway this time so I walked for about 25-30 minutes back to the dorm. It was a very good walk just exploring the west side of the city a little more, which was really nice. So when I got back to the dorm around 6ish I laid down to stay off of my feet for a little while before a little presentation the staff had put together. So after that, I headed down to the commons and they went over a little professional communication in and out of the workplace, I had heard a lot of it in classes that I had taken, but it was good to get a refresher. After they got done with that, I stayed to watch the 1st half of the NBA Finals game 6. And they came up here to work on some more material and write this.

It was a very busy day, and I just want to thank all of you again for checking this out. It really means a lot to me for people to be reading what I have to say and what I am doing. Tomorrow we are going to a Yankees game with Dream Careers which will be a lot of fun. So the post will be a little later. Just letting everyone know!

Day 14

The second weekend of the big city, I have been in NYC for 2 weeks now. It has definitely been a learning process the past two weeks, just finding everything and the easiest ways to work and all that jazz. But today was a good day, nice and relaxing.

I woke up and did some laundry which was much needed after two weeks of being here. So I got that done and also went over my proposal and the ideas I have for the talk show I am thinking about putting on. So once I got done doing laundry I had a meeting with Cody, Heather, and Krista about my talk show idea, and this thing is going to be amazing! The show is going to be called The Dreamer Talk Box! More details will be coming up as things go on, but thats what is going on at the moment! And I can't wait to pursue this dream of mine and get it going!

After we had our meeting I headed to Time Square with Jessica, Haley, Emily and Daniel for some lunch and to just enjoy the day, since the Brooklyn Bridge and Grimaldi's pizza trip got cancelled due to rain. But we ended up at The Counter, which if you remember is the place my dad and I went when he dropped me off. So we had a little lunch there and it was unbelievable! I had the mini cheeseburgers and it was so good! After we had lunch we headed to the Harry Potter Exhibit in Time Square. They had different costumes and props from the actual Harry Potter movie. It's kind of funny because we saw Daniel Ratcliff on Broadway a couple days before and now we were going through his exhibit in NYC. So it was cool to see some of the props they used, and things of that nature.

Once we got done with that, we headed back to the dorm, and just relaxed for a little while. I took a little nap and then walked around Union Square for an hour or so, walking in and out of stores and just enjoying city life! I love the city, You will hear me say this a million more times while I am here! Remember you can send me mail at...

Day 13

So today was another day living in the City! Things haven't changed since day one and I love it. Good things are happening to me this summer when talking about my dreams and my plans that I have for my future. It is definitely a lot of fun just to see how much I have grown even though I haven't even been here for 2 weeks, but a lot is happening, and a lot is changing for the best.

I woke up today and headed off to work, before work I always stop at the Grand Central Market and get a blueberry muffin, definitely the best way to start out a day. Anyway, I continued to work and once I got there I got right to finishing the Leverage interviews. It was a lot of fun editing the interviews, even though I didn't get to see them being interviewed, all the cast members had a lot to say about the show and just about things that go on around the set. Once I got done finishing that, I was given a DVD of clips from The Glades, so I put those on final cut and edited them the best I could, and they are currently on the player on the website! So that was fun getting those together. Once I got done editing those, my boss and another Lady from TV Guide took the 3 interns out to lunch, and a very good Hamburger place so that was sweet, I tried a fried pickle for the first time (not too shabby) but then once we got done there we headed back to work. I went back and finished uploading the videos I had just edited online, and asked Mickey what else I could do. Well he couldn't think of anything so he let me out of work a couple hours early. It was a Friday so it was nice to leave a little early and go back and just relax.

Once I got back to the dorm I laid down for a little bit, and waited to have supper later on with some friends. So I laid down, and just enjoyed it being a Friday, figuring out what to do tonight and all that stuff. So after that, I went with a couple of friends and checked out some restaurants in Chelsea (upper westside) and found ourselves eating a Greek place called Uncle Nicks. It was really good, I had a bowl of soup and some roasted potatoes, and brought the potatoes home for a future day. We spent a good hour and half eating and talking and figuring out what is going on tonight. But now I am writing the blog still trying to figure something out. I know I am going out, just not sure where yet.

But as you can see I am having a blast here still in NYC, I tell myself everyday I could see myself living here one day. I am going over a plan tomorrow with Heather and Cody about the talk show and other events and ideas we are going to try to branch from this idea. This summer has just gotten started, but I only have 6 weeks left to make it even better! And I can't wait to let you in on everything!

Day 12- Another Epic Day

So today was another great night, not too much happened at work but you will find out later why tonight will definitely be a good one in the life of my summer.

So I got up went to work, and first got there started working on editing some of the Leverage interviews we had done from a couple weeks back. So I pretty much did that all day, also looked through some footage of clips and things like that. So today was a busy day at work, but I only did one or two things, so there wasn't too much to say about it. Once I got off work I headed down to back home and got ready for the Broadway Show: How to Succeed in Business... starring Daniel Ratcliff. So that definitely was a great performance to see and I was excited.

We headed there and got our seating and got ready for the show, it was one of the funniest, craziest Broadway shows I had ever seen. Daniel Ratcliff can sing and dance, which was pretty unbelievable at first, because all I had known him in was Harry Potter, so I had no clue he could do all this. So after the show was over Nick, Nick, myself, Jessica, Haley, and Emily all went to a comedy club, we figured why not, we only live once, and the tickets were cheap. So we went there and hungout there for about an hour and a half while the show was going on. It was a typical New York Comedy Club show, they acts weren't A class, but they got better as the night went on. After we checked out of there we headed back, and got in around 12:35. Tomorrow is Friday, and it's going to be a good weekend!!!

Day 11- Best Day in the City so far!

So today was just an unbelievable day all together! You will find out why here in a sec, but I just want to tell everyone, it may be hard to beat today for the rest of the time I am here in NYC!

Anyway, I woke up and went to work, and things were going good, I did my normal routine of showing up and getting some work that they have for me completed. We had an early interview this morning with an actress from Nickelodeon, Elizabeth Gillies. So that was fun watching the interview, and then I had a meeting with Mickey, my manager just about things that I want to get out of the internship this summer and it was a great meeting, I told him exactly what I wanted and he is going to do his best to help me get more hands on experience and maybe even a couple on camera interviews. So I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the summer, things just keep getting better and better. I thought things were going to stay slow, but right when I think that, they pick right up again. Well after work I headed back to the dorm and got ready for dinner, and that's when my night turned from alright... to UNREAL!!!!!!!

So I was sitting down talking to Elina and Cody about a talk show I had an idea for to highlight Dream Careers and the participants in it, and we started talking and someone came to where we were eating, and said, "I got two Yankees tickets for tonight's game against the Red Sox!" When I heard this I almost couldn't believe it. So I was like I'LL TAKE THEM!!! And was wondering who I should give the other ticket to, well Heather, one of the staff for Dream Careers was my first choice but she couldn't make it, So I called up my buddy Nick, and was like you wanna go to the Yankees game right now. And he was like yeah man, so we headed there. Hopped on the 4 train and it was a straight shot to Yankee Stadium!

Once we got there, the game was in the 4th inning and the Yanks were down, but we weren't too worried, we found our seats and the view was unbelievable...
... We got there sat down right as the bottom of the inning was starting, and who would be up but Alex Rodriguez.. And of course what does he do right as we sit down! AN A-BOMB FROM A-ROD!!! In the words of Micheal Kay, Yankees Play by Play announcer. And from then the game just got better and better, the Yankees were down the entire time but they made a comeback in the middle of the game, and I don't think I have ever been in a stadium so loud when that was happening. Final score was 11-6 in favor of the Red Sox, but the game and the experience, and the fact that I got 2 tickets for free, to one of the best rivalries in all of sports. Made it worth it! We saw Red Sox fans getting in fights, about 4 of them getting escorted away by police, it was the best night so far!!!

WOW, I wish I could say more about tonight, but this blog would go on forever. My first time at the new Yankee Stadium watching the Red Sox play the Yankees will be one of my greatest memories of the summer! I am going to another game on Monday when the Yanks face off against the Indians. It is going to be a great game and its going to be on ESPN baby!!! Anyway I can cross tonight off my bucket list, Yankees vs. Red Sox at Yankee Stadium! Never thought it would happen! This summer just keeps getting better and better!!!

Day 10

Today was a slower day, but it was a lot of fun. You never know what you are going to see or what you are going to do when you are in NYC! Not saying that is going to lead to any of my stories today, but it has definitely been a wild ride.

So today I got into work and did what I normally do, sat down at my desk and started looking up some clips for the home page video player. We had a meeting a little later in the day so I had to make sure everything was organized by date, and the different premieres that are coming out. Since I have been working here over the past week, I have gotten addicted to certain TV shows more than I thought I would. So I also catch up on certain episodes while I am working (which I am allowed to do) and get my work done. Once I did all that I organized things for a meeting Mickey, Robyn and myself so we could figure out what videos and previews to put up on the site.

Well the meeting was scheduled for 3:30 so I took my lunch break a little later around 2:30, and met a buddy of mine from school, James MacDonald at Grand Central. Him and his brother were going to the Red Sox vs. Yankees game later that night. So it was definitely awesome to see him and show him where I worked and where Time Square was. It was awesome to see someone from school. After that I headed back for the meeting about the homepage.

So we got the meeting started around 3:30ish and then got interrupted by a phone call so we had to postpone the meeting for another day. So hopefully we get to meet tomorrow and talk about all that. After work, I headed back to the dorm and just relaxed. Since I had such a late lunch I haven't eaten dinner yet except for a little egg. So who knows what I may pick up tonight. It is kind of late but not too bad! It's NYC something is open!

But now I am just relaxing... Check back tomorrow there is a interview scheduled so you will be hearing about that. Talk to ya'll tomorrow!

Day 9

Hey guys! So not too much happened but I am going to give you a little rundown about what did happen for everyone who does follow this! It was a fun day in the city regardless of how slow it was... First off I want to say Happy Birthday to a couple of friends of mine, Jared Bredeson and Jessi Nalepa! I hope you two had the best day ever and you had a great time whatever you did today to celebrate!

So I woke up this morning like I normally do and headed out to work. Jumped on the 5 train and that took me to Grand Central Station where I always end up going to the Market in the terminal and getting a little something a pastry usually for breakfast. After I get that I head to my building where I work every single day. Once I got there I sat down and ate my breakfast, and did a little online work before the day started and the morning so I could get some work done early. So I went online and did what I have been doing the past couple days and looked up clips for everyone so we could post them on the website when premieres and other events are coming up. It may not sound like a big deal, but when you talk about a video that you choose that thousands of people are going to watch and get educated about what is going on, it could be the best thing in a persons day. So that is what I did all day, I set up a schedule of when premieres and new episodes came up and what clips we could use for those days. So it is a very time consuming job, but it is important and needs to be done.

Once work was over I headed back to the dorm and relaxed for a bit before heading to dinner and the seminar for the night. Went to dinner and had some amazing pasta salad that I could have had for the rest of my meals, that's how good it was. Then headed into the seminar featuring motivational speaker Gary Tuerack, and it was one of the best seminars of the program. He talked about reaching and pursuing your goals. It really made me think about what I wanted to do and what I wanted my future to be like, so I started thinking and came up with a really good idea about what I may want to do this summer to take that action. This was a great motivational speech that inspired me to really go out of my comfort zone and try the impossible! And it is going to happen.

I said this quote this morning... and I really believe it to be true...
"an old Disney proverb says, 'when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true!' and let me tell you there are plenty of stars in NYC, cause my dreams are coming true!"
So I leave you with that, if you have something you want to pursue do it, don't wait for the right moment, or the right time, cause that time may never come!

Day 8

Alright everyone, my first full week in the city has come to a close, which means I have about 7 weeks left to embrace the city they call New York City. And as a famous band once said, "Dream On!" It was a great first week, filled with surprises and adventures that have made this summer unbelievable already, and to think I have 7 more weeks here, it is going to be unbelievable what happens next!

I woke up this morning and wondered to myself what I wanted to do, I was like hey why not go to Chinatown and see what kind of trouble I can cause there. Well I got on the R train uptown to where I thought was Chinatown, but apparently I was wrong, I ended up by the Worlds biggest Macy's...

...which if you ask me was still pretty awesome. After I got done exploring there, I headed back to Time Square, and of course finding something new isn't hard in that place. So checked that out and just walked around a bit more and headed back to the dorm. Well once I got back here, I was wondering what I should have for lunch... There are these vendors on the sidewalks and there are some that serve Chicken over Rice, so I told myself, here we go, this is going to happen this time. So I got it, and it was the best lunch I have had since I have been in the city. Who would have thought a little vendor could produce so much goodness in a meal.

After that, I headed back out to explore some more but this time I headed downtown to the real Chinatown. And this is the land of opportunity, I have not seen the last of this town, I loved walking around looking in the shops trying to bargain with the sellers for watches and sunglasses and swords, it was unbelievable. And I thought about bringing home some duck for dinner... But that didn't happen anyway, I walked around there and Little Italy for about 2 hours and then headed back to the dorm, for the remainder of the evening. I loved that place, it was so much fun just to go around and check everything out and go to the different stores, even though I couldn't understand what they said, it was awesome.

Tonight we have a Vision board activity that the staff has put on for us. I hope everyone is enjoying this blog! I am loving writing it, and can't wait to tell you more as the summer goes on! Peace and love!

Day 7

So today marks the 7th day I have been in the city, and let me tell you right now, it is just as exciting to be here as it was day 1! Today was my first Saturday in the city and it was a very busy one. Let me just start out by saying Dream Careers is the best organization, they have done so much just in this first week, and care about everyone in the program, so thank you to all of the staff who have made this summer possible.

Alright, so I woke up this morning and got some breakfast at DD downstairs. Then relaxed until about 10:45, when I headed downstairs and got ready for the bus tour around NYC. I have always wanted to go on one of those buses you sit on the top and they guide you around the city, well today was the day I actually got to experience the "dream". I would say other than last Monday, today was the ultimate tourist day for everyone, we were driven around the city and got to see so many important places (Chinatown, Brooklyn Bridge, Madison Square Park, United Nations, some pretty sweet houses that they have based TV shows out of) so that was definitely a lot of fun, I took some pictures, but I am still going through them, so they are coming soon. After we got done with the bus tour we ended up in Time Square and had lunch at The Hard Rock Cafe, this blog is actually being dedicated today to Whitesnake, "Here I Go Again", it played while we were eating. Anyway... I had a pulled pork sandwich which was amazing, and filled me up good.

After lunch, we headed off to Central Park. I had never really been in central park and walked around so I was really excited about what I was going to see. You hear about central park and its amazing beauty, and all of those are so true. Central Park has to be the ultimate chill spot, if you are bored and you want to find something or somewhere to just chill... Check out central park in New York City! You will find anything from concerts to a huge lawn, to a road that plays music and people are on roller skates just dancing on them. It may have been the coolest thing I had seen to date, if you talk about my "tourist" experience. Then we kept on walking and came to the big lake in the middle of the Park and hung out there and watched a street show for about 25 minutes. Now this 25 minutes was about 10-15 minutes of doing something, and the rest trying to get money off of people to donate. I would say they probably made about $300 during the show we watched, and there were 3 guys performing. That isn't too bad for just one show, but hey, it was entertaining, I didn't give them any money, but they were fun to watch. Once we got done with that we headed towards Strawberry Fields in Central Park. And I am sorry to bear bad news, but there are absolutely no Strawberry Fields in Central Park. It was a tough thing to handle once we first got there but I got over it, and so did everyone else. It is actually a memorial for John Lennon, former Beatles singer, who was shot just outside of where this memorial is for him...
... His most famous song "Imagine" is one of my favorites, RIP John Lennon. After we were done there we headed to the building where he was shot. He did a lot for Rock and Roll and was apart of a group that will always be remembered as one of the best groups ever! After that we headed back to the dorms and I took a nap, it was a pretty good nap, it is sort of overcast here in NYC so should be a nice night to just relax, maybe go somewhere and watch the Canucks/Bruins game which is currently on as I write this.

Tomorrow is going to be another great day, may be a little slower than the past week, but I have learned even on the slow days, big things can happen!

Friday, June 3, 2011

Day 6

So today was a pretty slow day at the office, woke up at around 7:30 and got ready and headed to work, was a fun day getting there, saw someone get arrested on the subway and other things like that. Once I got to work I helped look over some clips for previews of future shows as well as I helped come up with some ideas of different segments we should try for our site, it was a lot of fun seeing what our competitors did and trying to come up with better ideas from that. Once I got done with that, I spent my last few hours watching some of the new Fall shows that will be premiering on CBS! So I watched TV during work today, the life of a TV Guide worker!

After work was over I headed back to the dorm and laid down for a little bit, and then went to dinner, you know the usual stuff, it is definitely a good food place and it is so convenient. Once I got done having dinner I headed out for a little walk. Went to the subway and hit the shuttle to Time Square, looked around there for a little bit, and then just kept walking. Yeah, you can do that in NYC, just keep walking and you will run into something pretty cool. Well I ran into something cooler than cool. The world renown Plaza Hotel...

... I also was really close to Central park which was a pretty awesome experience, I had never seen the Plaza in real life except in the movie Home Alone 2... So it was sweet to check that out, and I actually got to go inside and check it out, it is one of the most amazing things you need to check out before you die. Anyway, I walked around that part of the city for a little while, and then headed back to the dorms. It was fun exploring parts of the city that I had never seen before in my life, and being there was amazing.

Once I got back to the dorm, I got on the elevator and headed up to the 8th floor and stopped in on some of the summer Dream Careers Staff's room, and relaxed in there, and spent about 2 hours fixing a printer that may not be fixed entirely. But it did print something that I sent to it, so we are making extreme progress. Tomorrow is going to be a fun day, Double Decker tour of NYC and then lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe, and then just chillin in Central Park! Its going to be a great day! SO check back tomorrow and find out what happened!

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Day 5

So today was my 3rd day at work, and it has been a pretty great day so far. I got up regular time and headed to work a little early, once I got there I was given the task of looking up fan sites of Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery so we could send them the interviews we did. It was definitely a lot of fun in the studio, not as crazy as it has been the past couple days because of American Idol, but don't think it was a relaxed day. We had three interviews done today and a bunch of things to go over. Here is a little picture of my desk in the studio that I will be working at all summer. So that is my desk that I work on different things on. It is a nice work area, and that is inside the studio portion of the office, which is pretty sweet. So the first interview we had was with Disney XD star Mitchel Musso (Miley Cyrus and Pair of Kings), who has his new season of Pair of Kings coming up soon, so they talked about that a little bit, so it was sweet meeting someone like that. So after that interview I helped edit the interview a bit, and watched the guy I'm working with do his thing, which was nice, to see how a professional edits and things like that. After we got that done, we had another interview come in, Greg Grunberg (Heroes, Felicity) he is starring in a new series that premieres tonight on NBC called "Love Bites". He is a pretty nice guy, really knows what he is doing and seems to be enjoying the new show he is putting on now. After we got done his interview and talking to him for a little while, we had one more interview to do. Matt Passmore, who is the lead role on the A&E show "The Glades". He was a really nice guy, and just talked about the show and what you could look forward to in it at all. He is from Australia so the accent he had was pretty awesome too. He is heading back down to Florida to finish shooting the series, since there are about 6 more episodes they still have to shoot. After his interview, I helped with the editing of his interview a little bit, looking at the different B-role of the clips and sorting through that.

After looking through that for a little while, I sat in on a calender meeting/conference call with our partners in Los Angeles, where we talked about the calender and the schedule for the next week. It was definitely a pretty sweet experience to actually see them and sit in on a conference call. Today was a lot of fun, I got to meet a few more celebrities and learned some more new things. It has definitely opened my eyes to a new world which is entertainment.

So after work I headed back to the dorm and went to dinner with some friends in the program, and it was cool seeing what they are doing, and telling them what is going on during my day of work. And now I am writing this and watching the Heat/ Mavericks game. So I hope everyone had a good day. Leave your comments and let me know what ya think!
