Day 4

Hey everyone, so first off, I just want to say thanks for reading this, it really does mean a lot that you are interested in what is going on with me this summer, and all the cool stories I have to share with you. Today was a pretty sweet day.

So today I woke up about 8 o'clock and got ready for work, you know the usual, hit 4 train to Grand Central Station (Pictures coming) then got off there and walked to 11 West 42nd Street, which as you know is the building I am working in. The building is actually right across from the New York City Public Library and is also only a little ways down from the Empire State Building. Once I arrived at work around 9:30am, I went to my desk and took this picture of part of my office...

... this is the studio where we conduct all the interview of the celebrities that come in. It may not be big, but if you think about it you don't need a big studio to interview big celebrities, it gives it a more personal feel. So we had our morning meeting at 10 o'clock and then myself and the other intern who is also working at TV Guide got shown around the place by our manager, Mickey O'Connor. Once we got done that, I was given my first task, the first day I did a lot of observing, but today I got to go on the media sites for different networks and look at previews for the new summer shows that are premiering soon. So I was able to look at that, and report a summary or an outline of what clips we could possibly use to preview it on the site, when the show is premiering soon. That definitely was a lot of fun just to be able to see parts of some of the summer shows that look like they are going to be amazing! That was just the start of the day, at around 2:45ish we had an interview set up. Now yesterday we did interviews with Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina, the 1st and 2nd runner ups in the American Idol competition. Today was the day we interviewed Scotty McCreery, your own American Idol for Season 10. It was crazy that I got to meet him, because if you just saw him walking around he is a nice guy. He was a little tired when the interview started, but once they got going he did well!

Once work was over, at around 3:30ish I headed back downtown on the 4 train and got off at the first stop, Union Square, which is where I am living. I got back and just relaxed a little bit, and then went off to dinner in the dining hall with some friends. I had a hamburger and some fries and just recapped the day with a couple of people, which was nice. After dinner everyone went to the first seminar of the program, and this seminar is definitely going to be a hard one to beat. The CEO and Founder of Dream Careers Eric Lochtefeld spoke on his journey and how he became and got the idea of the Dream Career program. It was so inspiring and so true that you have to go out and chase your dreams. He was definitely a great person to start off a great seminar series this entire summer.

Today was one of the most amazing days I have had here in NYC, the people here are amazing, I love the city life, and things just seem to be right. I couldn't have asked for a better first 2 days of work and it has set the tone for what is going to be an amazing summer!
