The Happiness of Victory

As a lot of you very well know I am a huge New York Giants fan, and I was glad when the Hail Mary thrown at the end of the game was batted down by Giants secondary and the Patriots walked off the field watching the Giants celebrate their 2nd Super Bowl victory in 4 years. Over 110 million people watched as Madonna performed the halftime show in Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday. And over 100 million people watched Eli Manning win his second Super Bowl MVP of his career. One of the highly anticipated Super Bowls has come and gone, and just like The Packers last year, the Giants go home with the trophy.

All season long people had doubted the Giants and their ability to win games when they needed to, halfway through the season the Giants were at 6-2 and were one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Then they went on to lose four straight games in a season that many people thought was over. Tom Coughlin was on the verge of losing his job as the head coach of the Giants, but then something happened on a December evening in Dallas Texas, the Giants snapped their 4 game losing streak to go on and defeat the Cowboys and regain first place in the NFC East. After a crushing loss to the Redskins a week after, the Giants needed to win out to make the playoffs. The rest is history. The Giants go on to win the next 6 games of the year, the sixth being the biggest of them all.

You probably know all of this if you know anything about sports, or have looked at a newspaper in the past 24 hours. But the point of the story is, the Giants never gave up. If there was one consistent thing that each Giant player had to say about their team and their coach is that, no one ever gave up. When they lost four straight, they fought back and won when it mattered. Coach Tom Coughlin became the oldest coach, 65, to win a Super Bowl doing so in historical fashion.

In our lives we come to road blocks that seem to be impossible to get over. If we let those things get us down, then we will never be able to overcome them and get over the rough spots. But if we continue to fight through and really understand what we as people need to do then we can accomplish anything. We are the players, and God is our coach, he helps us no matter what get through the times when we think no one else is there but ourselves. He has a purpose for each of our lives, if we end up having a four game losing streak, we have to have the confidence that God will never give up on us. Be a GIANT believer today! Never give up no matter what gets in your way! You will be amazed at what the end result will be!

Believing in Yourself

Going throughout my life I think there has been one thing that has stood apart from myself than anything else. The ability to believe in what I am able to do. Anyone can go and get applause from others about how great they are doing, but it isn't good enough until that actually happens. I really believe that apart from them, you have to believe in yourself before you can have others believe in you. If you go throughout your life and constantly need other to pull you up and make you "the best" then what is the point of living. Believing in yourself through almost every stage in your life is important. Especially when you are in that point of your life, in which you need something to go right. God promises us that we will be where he wants us to be, but on that journey, you must put your faith in Christ and yourself before anything BIG can occur.

Looking back through the past year, some things have been great and others not so great, but one constant thing remained the same. I believed in myself and my abilities that I was given at the times they were given to me. I am a true believer in having a positive attitude about everything, and I think it first starts with the ability to really go out and believe that you can accomplish the things you are passionate about. Friends and family are there to tell you that they support you in any decision you decide to make in your life, but it ultimately you that is going to have to make the decision and have it affect the rest of your life forever. God puts people, places, things, creatures and everything in your way so you may accomplish those goals, but if you don't believe in yourself then all the things that God does for you don't matter. He has the big picture in place, and he will make sure you do what it takes to make that occur. When you believe in yourself you understand that no matter what happens, something great is going to come as a result of it. God has the big picture for everyone, for those that believe in Him and themselves the options are endless.

Don't take this as an opportunity to think about the things you missed, but as an opportunity to go out and believe in the things that you are going to accomplish. You can't change the past, but you have the impact to change your future, and it takes one thing, Believing that you can do it! Go out and believe in yourself, and do it knowing that you have what it takes!

God Bless!
